Google was one of the first companies that started to experiment with the development of Google self-cars. Only a few years ago this idea seems too futuristic for many users. Over time, however, we saw that modern technologies have the potential to turn this concept into reality. Many companies like Uber, NVIDIA and manufacturers such as Mercedes-Benz already interested in the self-governing cars. New data reveal TheInformation interesting shift in strategy for Google.
That for now the company has given up the idea to produce the own car, which is driven by software, not by man. Instead, Google self-cars intends to partner with leading manufacturers in the creation of conventional cars and intend to submit a new service for them, which will be available by the end of 2017. A good example of this is the cooperation of the company with Fiat Chrysler. Its engineers have developed a prototype minivan Pacifica, which uses unique software to Google. The first public test with him began in May.
Personally, head of Alphabet, Larry Page along with Chief Financial Officer Ruth Porat took the decision to change their plans in this market segment. In turn, it is provoked by the idea that creating a completely different car, no steering wheel and pedals are too impractical. That’s why Google believes in partnering with leading manufacturers and gradually integrating technology into their models. A matter of time to see if the company’s strategy will succeed.
