BMW engineers developed their own interface for automobiles that supports gesture commands and says HoloActive Touch. The new system is an updated version of AirTouch presented at the beginning of the year. The German manufacturer intends to demonstrate for the first time capabilities BMW HoloActive Touch at CES 2017 in early January. The core feature of the concept is that adding “floating virtual touch” to the wheel of the car, police TheVerge.
So drivers can use gesture commands to navigate their work without even having to touch the center console. BMW HoloActive Touch has a built-in camera that allows the system to know when the fingers of users interact with the virtual keys on the display. In turn, it is a holographic panel, which is projected into the interior of the vehicle and not the windshield.
Virtual buttons are located right next to the steering wheel at the same height as the central dashboard to allow maximum easy to use by the driver without distracting them from the road. The company defines as HoloActive Touch technology that has the potential to revolutionize cars in the form in which we know them. We still do not know who will be the first models of BMW, who will use the smart system. At CES 2017 begins in a few weeks and then we’ll know more details about this innovative concept.
