Review of Bluetooth-headset invoice Audio-Technica ATH-SR5BT with aptX

Hi-Fi Players and expensive “audiophile” headphones – quite a narrow niche. The majority of users is enough quite good smartphone as a sound source, and in this case it is possible to look at the Bluetooth-headset in order to get rid of the clutter of cables and (mostly) get governments player directly on the headphones, and not to go into your pocket every time as you want to change the composition. Audio-Technica ATH-SR5BT review – one of the relatively recent Bluetooth-headset with a Japanese company interested in (on paper) characteristics. Let’s see how things are in reality.

WHAT IS INTERESTING HEADSET?

Audio-Technica ATH-SR5BT review – invoice the Bluetooth-headset with a closed acoustic design, 45mm dynamic drivers, support aptX codec, AAC, the ability to connect to your phone via a cable with a discharged battery, memorizing up to 8 devices and up to 38 hours of battery life battery (according to the manufacturer).

WHAT IS IN THE BOX?

Audio-Technica ATH-SR5BT review comes in a box with a cover of white soft cardboard with a picture of a headset and basic specifications. Inside – a black box from a cardboard with the headset and the rest:

Includes – Audio-Technica ATH-SR5BT review, removable cable with microphone for wired, USB-cable for charging, carrying bag made of artificial leather and instructions:

WHAT IT IS AND WHAT IS CONTROLLED?

I have not yet come across the headphones Audio-Technica, which would have been made of substandard materials or poorly collected. Audio-Technica ATH-SR5BT review situation is similar (even more so. That the model is not from the budget). We have a review of the white-silver version, on sale, there is still a “quiet” black. Made of metal ear cups and headband basis. In the design, there are many parts and plastic parts, but the plastic quality.
Ear cups filled with soft foam-filled with memory. The headband and ear cushions are upholstered in imitation leather light gray. On the headband near the left earphone is NFC for easy pairing with smartphones:

The cups can be rotated in one direction by 90 degrees so that the headset was comfortable to wear on the neck until it is used. Despite the portable model, the design does not imply the ability to take shape. The cable is connected to the left earphone below. On the cable, there is the remote control with a single button and a microphone. Connector for connection to the source of an L-shaped:
All controls are located on the lower parts of the headphone cups. Most – on the left: LED connection / charging indicator, for connection of the cable connector, MicroUSB for charging and a three-position switch-joystick. He is responsible for play/pause, answer a call, adjust the volume and switch tracks:
On the right earpiece – only to slide the headset:

The garniture Audio-Technica ATH-SR5BT review well assembled with quality materials, it was expected. Overall appearance is recognizable: the model is visually very similar to a smaller version of the more expensive full-size headphones Audio-Technica ATH-MSR7 (the link you can read our review).

HOW EASY AUDIO-TECHNICA ATH-SR5BT?

All the controls are logical and convenient, addictive occurs very quickly, the navigation switch is large enough and find it no difficulty. To receive a call you need to press the switch (similar to the Play / Pause), the volume adjustment is made with short movements forward / backward, long – switching between songs.
By itself, the headset is lightweight and hardly felt in the head. The headband is no pressure, with good records headset. Headphones are relatively small, but the ear cushions completely cover your ears. The foam filler is comfortable and soft, well-fitting headphones. In winter, do not sweat the ears, but there is a suspicion that this may change in the summer because the ear cushions are upholstered in imitation leather. While I will not argue.

WHAT IS WITH THE SOUND, INDEPENDENT AND SIGNAL QUALITY?

The sound quality I was pleasantly surprised. I expected to hear something like the majority of similar models from other manufacturers: focus on lower frequencies and weak detail. Audio-Technica ATH-SR5BT review same sound relatively balanced. Bass is, in sufficient quantity and quite detailed, but all filled with music lovers subbasin it may seem enough. Midrange practiced very well with the separation of instruments is also okay. The headset is more suitable for diverse instrumental music, although some compositions HF seems a bit much and their sibilance. Audio-Technica ATH-SR5BT paints a pretty good scene (for its category of devices), although one should not expect miracles. It’s all about the wireless mode, the headset was tested with a smartphone Samsung Galaxy S6, Google Pixel, Meizu Pro 5 and player FiiO X1 2nd Gen. When connected through the wire there is a difference: on subjective sensations, bass increased, he became more dense, dynamic and driving, and the middle – detail. Of course, for the “purity of the experiment” used the same sound sources. In general, I liked the sound of it is quite balanced and neutral, without any significant accents. Basskhedam likely will miss the low density.

Built-in microphone cup enough to communicate in a relatively quiet environment. On the street or on public transport interlocutor hear all ambient noise with the voice. With the cable connected, the situation is much better. Over time, the battery life of more than well: the real figures correspond roughly stated: headset worked on a full charge is about 1.5 days. Of course, not at the maximum level, but this is not necessary: Audio-Technica ATH-SR5BT has a large reserve volume. no problems arose with the connection: the headset is not “falling off”, including through the wall at a distance of about 5 meters.

THE BOTTOM LINE

Audio-Technica managed to make the headset Audio-Technica ATH-SR5BT review extremely successful and interesting for those who want to get rid of the wires but does not like excessive basicity models (which are now the majority of the market). The headset sounds balanced and interesting, with a presentable appearance, good quality materials and assembled. Pleasantly surprised really long battery life that will allow at least a week to forget about the charge (and this despite the very intensive use). Of course, an important advantage is an aptX codec support, but it is worth remembering that the source must be appropriate. From unpleasant moments can be identified unless the microphone on the headset, which catches the ambient noise is not worse than the voices in a noisy environment to talk with it is difficult.
