Review Nubert nuPro A-600: Active Speaker in Daring Format

The nuPro A-600 from Nubert is an active speaker in a daring format. Convince the box in the test and is thus in the success series?
Nubert would be called “nuComer”. But this would make the company wrong. The active box portfolio is now quite comprehensive and ranges from soundboards for crisp film enjoyment through small desktop monitors to extended floor boxes like the A-700. The success of the series and the relatively good test results by the bank also do not suggest that someone is trying.

Design: Nubert nuPro A-600

And so the nuPro A-600 has nothing of an attempt but convinced on the whole line from the beginning. But done! After the joy of the unusual format, which reminds us so wonderfully of the old times with its huge three-way “compact boxes”, a question arises: Where to go with the thing?
Review Nubert nuPro A-600: Active Speaker in Daring Format
The 60 centimeters of height present the owner with difficulties, because here, too, the tweeters belong to the ear. Otherwise, the picture threatens to become dull. Difficult to implement when loudspeaker stands usually only start at 60 cm height (remedy, however, provides, for example, Liedtke metal design, for example with the Quattro II stand).
If one has clarified the stand question and thus the installation requirements (perhaps with a low board?), One can also deal with the intrinsic values of the nuPro A-600. The active three-way speaker has three drivers and three digital amplifiers per channel (90 watts are available for treble and mids, 250 for the bass). On the rear side, three digital inputs including USB-B as well as an analog input appear.

Nubert nuPro A-600: Specifications

Analog RCA inputs and three digital interfaces are available. Electrically and optically, the A-600 accepts HiRes up to 96 kHz / 24 bits, via USB maximum 48 kHz / 16 bits.
The drivers are partly new, partly proven. The 25mm silk dome tweeter has been specially developed for the nu- Pro series. It plays on a specially damped back chamber which is cooled with a ferrofluid. This allows the tweeter to sustain even higher levels. The front plate, which surrounds the calotte, ensures a uniformly uniform round-jet behavior.
Review Nubert nuPro A-600: Active Speaker in Daring Format
A separate midrange driver is rare in compact boxes. The 12 cm polypropylene chassis used here has an inverse dust protection dome and a flow-optimized basket made of die-cast aluminum. Again, measures were taken in the form of a ventilated centering spider in order to avoid distortions and heat build-up. The depth of the 22 cm bass (also with a polypropylene membrane) is official: our test lab measures an amazing 33 Hz at minus 3 dB!

Everything digital: Nubert nuPro A-600

The signal processing inside the box takes place as far as possible at the digital level. This also means that incoming analog signals are immediately converted digitally. A DSP then takes over the further processing and divides the frequencies. Then the 1s and zeros are sent to the output stages.
Review Nubert nuPro A-600: Active Speaker in Daring Format
The remote control is good in the hand and is quite compact. However, you must aim precisely at the loudspeaker.

Master and slave: Nubert nuPro A-600

Despite political imprecision, the terms “master and slave” are widespread in technical fields. So here too. The left speaker is the master box. Here you close the sources. A connection cable from the link output of the master box is now routed to the slave and plugged into the S / PDIF input. Consequently, the S / PDIF input must also be set via the menu on the slave box, otherwise it remains mute.
Speaking of the menu: this can be reached via the front of the Masterbox. Here you can make various settings, such as mono- operation, input selection or sound control. The functions which are important for daily operation can also be comfortably handled via the wonderful remote control. This is not much bigger than a credit card, is well in the hand and provides proper pressure points. However, you have to point it exactly at the display of the Masterbox, so that the signals arrive. Luck: All necessary cables are included in the box. These are a TOSLINK, a USBA / B, a jack / RCA as well as a 5 mS / PDIF coax cable for the connection between master and slave.
Review Nubert nuPro A-600: Active Speaker in Daring Format
One advantage of active loudspeakers is that they can be operated quite simply wirelessly. Nubert himself has interesting solutions in the program. We tested together with the A-600 the transmitter modules S-2 and SU-1 as well as the receiver EU-1. On the transmitter S-2 (229 euro, see the picture in the middle) devices such as CD or network player, TV or preamplifier can be found analog via RCA or digital via coax cable connection.
Since the signals are transmitted by digital radio to the receiver module, the S-2 must first convert analog signals to digital. He has high-quality chips from Burr Brown and Wolfson. The receiver EU-1 (69 euros) is plugged into the USB-A socket on the back of the master box and thus energized. The enclosed short RCA and/or coax cable is then connected to the loudspeaker. In order to connect the transmitter and the receiver (to pair), press the pair button on both devices within ten seconds, and they will establish a self-contained connection.
The same applies to the USB transmitter SU-1 (79 euros). This is used to integrate a computer into the HiFi system. So it’s a kind of external sound card. You can operate up to four transmitters in parallel, but a receiver can only be controlled by one transmitter at a time. We were thrilled about how simple and reliable the radio system worked in the test. It is set up within a minute. This system should convince any skeptic in no time! The only catch is that more than 44.1 kHz / 16 bits are not radio-controlled.
Review Nubert nuPro A-600: Active Speaker in Daring Format
In the listening room, we operated the A-600 on stands as well as on our rack. A little surprising: with the tweeters on ear it sounded best, slight deviations spoiled the sound but not immediately. Nubert also recommends use as studios. And we could agree with this quite spontaneously: the first impression is characterized by neutrality, accuracy and a very clean sound. Alanis Morissette’s “That I Would Be Good” from the album “Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie” sounded bell-clean and exceptionally clean, emphasized S-lute did not exist, also space knew immediately to convince.

Conclusion: Nubert nuPro A-600

Particularly striking characteristics of the loudspeaker are lucky in vain. The Nubert nuPro A-600 simply plays at a very high level, nothing is conspicuous, except perhaps its hand for fine-dynamic shading. The Nubert is suitable for classical as well as for jazz, pop or metal. Yes, the Nubert nuPro A-600 is reminiscent of a studio monitor. But not to a neutral, sober, but to a neutral musical, to one that goes with playfulness to the work.

Google has released the dates for how long the current Nexus and Pixel devices are supplied with security updates.

When does the support work?

As the owner of a Nexus or Pixel device, you are usually the first to get the latest updates. In addition, one can rely on the fact that two years after the appearance of the smartphone or tablet is still the latest Android version. Now Google has released new figures on how long users can expect software updates for their current Nexus and Pixel phones. Also, the duration of the security support has confirmed Google black on white.

This is true for the Nexus 7 from 2012 and the same name model from the year 2013, as well as the Nexus 4, Nexus 5 and Nexus 10. Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 have received since October last year no Android updates, but security updates Until October 2017.

Review Audeze iSine 20: NEW First Planetary Magnetic Earphones 2017

The very first planetary magnetic earphones in the world! Audeze has created a little wonder: the iSine 10 and the even nobler brother Audeze iSine 20. The latter gave us Audeze for a test.
Conventional dynamic headphones, as well as most of the standard speakers, rely on immersed coil speakers or spheres as sound transducers. As we all know, this can sound sought. The path is thus placed high. But if a company is courageous enough to challenge the old, you should look. Or in this case: listen.

What are Planar magnetic systems?

Planar magnetic systems (ribbons and magnetostatics) and electro stats try to make something different in principle: They try to remove the coil from the coil. All are equipped with a thin film as a membrane. This makes them sound transducers that can react quickly to impulses. This feature is particularly required in the upper frequencies and makes these sound transducers into acoustic magnifiers – with all their advantages and disadvantages.
Review Audeze iSine 20: NEW First Planetary Magnetic Earphones 2017
In addition, these systems, the – not yet invented! – Ideal point sound source. The keyword here is group time: frequencies need different lengths to get to your ear. The point sound source emits all frequencies exactly at the same time and optimally maps what the microphones have recorded.
The problem with these technologies is that they are – as opposed to the immersion coil – poorly miniaturize. Electrostatic headphones have been around for decades. The headphones from Stax from Japan sound legendary good but are also incredibly ugly.
Hifiman (China) is one of the younger players on the market. Since 2010, the company has been convincing many demanding listeners with their magnetostatic headphones. Be sure to listen to it when you have the opportunity! However, from Hifiman there are only headphones as magnetostatics. The earphones from Hifiman are certainly solid but equipped with «conventional» technology.
With Oppo, there is another manufacturer, who has been using planar magnetic headphones for several years. The Chinese were long known for DVD and Blu-ray players. They joined the smartphone market in 2008, followed by the headphones in 2014. They enjoy a very good reputation.
Audeze (USA) is also not long in the business. Founded in 2009, the first model, the LCD-1 (Over-ear) was introduced in 2011. There followed the LCD-2, the LCD-3 (which I could test). The LCD-4 for lumpy 4198 francs is the current top model. With the Sine, Audeze dared to a compact over-ear.
Now Audeze has managed to make an earphone with a flat magnet technology. The manufacturer is the only one to respect this. But let’s look at what you get.

Design and Build: Audeze iSine 20

Let’s look into the pack. First, I fold the cardboard box and gently remove the plastic cover. Above is a plastic holder, which holds the precious stones safely – really very securely. The earphones are neat. They weigh 10 grams of the piece. This is somewhat heavier than a bipartisan (8.8 g). The maximum extent is about the size of a two-limb. On the ear, they open into a funnel. There are soft plugs that hold the funnel in the ear.
Review Audeze iSine 20: NEW First Planetary Magnetic Earphones 2017
The lower part of the pack contains a sturdy bag. In the delivery state, various attachments for smaller or larger auditory canals are included in the bag, in which the earphones disappear later. Three pairs are available: small, medium and large. I’ve tried everything. The originally mounted medium size fit for me the best.
Also in the case, I find two pairs of plastic holders. They are clipped to the earphones and are guided behind the ear like the straps of a pair of glasses. They help to prevent the listeners from falling off their ears. What is a real danger due to the weight? One of the hanger pairs is made of transparent plastic, one of black. Also here are two brackets, which do not pass over the ear, but fit into the auricle. They are softer and slightly flexible. I do not feel comfortable with them, and I am re-assembling the bigger stirrups.
Review Audeze iSine 20: NEW First Planetary Magnetic Earphones 2017
Finally, I find in the case still two cables. One is a conventional stereo cable. The cable ends on one side are connected to the headphones, at the other end, there is a 3.5 mm jack. On the headphone side, the plug connections are proprietary. The cable is secure, but not bombproof. If I find a good thing: if the cable hooks, then a jerky movement will unplug the cable instead of tearing the iSine out of the auditory canal.

The cipher cable: Audeze iSine 20

The second enclosed cable is something special. On the one hand, it is inserted exactly the same. The other side opens into a lightning connector. The cable can be directly connected to iPhones or iPads. This is not the special feature of the “cipher” cable. The highlight is that the centerpiece in the cable has its own DSP and DAC, of course, 24-bit capable. Thanks to the Lightning connection, the cipher cable fetches the raw audio signals from the iGerät and processes them further.
The DAC succeeds quite well in the cipher cable. The sound impression is a bit better. Because the two cables can not be adjusted exactly the same loud, I find the comparison difficult. Speaking about volume: The cipher cable I consider to be dangerous because it amplifies extremely loud. On my iPhone, I have to screw on one or two bellows. Very quiet listening is not possible with the cipher cable. With moderate volume adjustment, the pain threshold is reached with me. I think the maximum possible loudness is irresponsible. Here, hearing impairments are imminent. Please fix it, Audeze! (A firmware update gives some improvement, but the things still play loudly on the ears.)
Review Audeze iSine 20: NEW First Planetary Magnetic Earphones 2017
The centerpiece with the electronics is quite heavy and is therefore fixed with a clip for example at the shirt collar. Even then, it slips around due to its weight. Here I would have liked a variant, which can be placed closer to the Hosensack. The cipher cable also sucks the battery. The effect is not dramatic, but you can see that the battery drains a little faster.
Worth mentioning is the (for iOS) available free app of Audeze. This makes it possible to create two different presets that can be used to attenuate or emphasize specific frequency ranges. I’ve played around with it, to take back the somewhat taut basses for something. The app does not change the music by software; It sends the settings to the cipher cable, which solves the task with its hardware equalizer.
A variant with USB-C for androids is rumored in a process. Android users are taking advantage of the variant, which has only the standard cable in the box and is fifty francs cheaper.

Sounds: Audeze iSine 20

Let’s go to the most important part of the review. How do the iSine 20 sound? On the top, they are very finely dissolving. The iSine does not miss a detail of the music. I expected that because of the technology. However, the iSine are less “airy” than I am used by the Stax or my stand-alone speakers with ribbon technology. There, for example, triangles are almost poisonous. Here are the iSine nicely said good-natured, not so nicely said here would be something more in it.
Review Audeze iSine 20: NEW First Planetary Magnetic Earphones 2017
In the midst, the earphones do not give any shadows. Very pleasant, round. Just great! Particularly pronounced are the basses. Here, the iSines shine and degrade all my known earphones. They have a good deal of pressure without bumbling around and losing clarity. I had the basses almost too much and I took them back with the hardware equalizer (see above).
I find the true qualities of a loudspeaker or a headphone you always hear when you play it quietly. Because loud it always sounds cool. This is why every salesperson must force the potentiometer up to the limit as soon as he demonstrates a loudspeaker. Quietly it is something else: Are still all nuances worked out? Does the bass still have power? Is the sound balanced? Also here: Very good grades for the iSine 20.
Presence and stage are outstanding. Once you have them in your ears, you forget them quickly and just enjoy the music.
The insulation on the outside is bad compared to conventional earphones. Your office colleagues or passengers in the public transport listen quietly. This behavior is untypical for an earphone but owed to open design. The iSine also makes relatively noises from outside. Sport is certainly not the paradigm of these earphone giants – but they are not meant for that. The classic location for this earphone is clearly the quiet environment at home.

Conclusion: Audeze iSine 20

These earphones are really great parts. They are the very first cream. Not only do you put all the earphones in the shade that I could sample, they also compete with high-quality on-ears and over-ears.
Its special features make the iSine 20 a very special earphone. Their price makes it clear that the target audience is audio freaks who are willing to spend a lot of money on spending a lot of power. And ignore the need for habitual optics when the inner values are right. The problem: This target group usually prefers over-ears, as these can afford more by design.
The iSine 20 is a niche product within the niche «audiophile devices». But what kind of thing! In terms of earphones comes for me Audeze and then nothing for a long time. On the other hand, if I were a gymnast, I would choose two different devices: a high-class over-ear for home and a solid earphone for the sport.

Pros: Audeze iSine 20

  • Outstanding sound
  • High quality
  • Adequate equipment
  • Cipher cable

Cons: Audeze iSine 20

  • Great for earphones
  • For earphones unwieldy
  • Bad insulation
  • Heavy
  • Expensive

HP is replacing Lenovo again as a larger PC manufacturer in the world

By eliminating unprofitable products, HP can once again be at the forefront larger PC manufacturer. It was not until the end of 2015 that Hewlett-Packard was split into the Hewlett Packard Enterprise division and the HP printer and printer manufacturer.
Responsible for the separation were the falling paragraphs with the PC sales. Lenovo has been the world’s largest PC manufacturer since 2013. Now HP was able to maintain this position again for the first time.

HP is larger PC manufacturer?

HP is replacing Lenovo again as a larger PC manufacturer in the world
A rise in PC sales by 13.1 percent in the first quarter of 2017 compared to the previous year caused Lenovo’s oversight to be broken.
This was due to the deletion of unprofitable products and the introduction of new cash registers. The 2-in-1 devices from HP, for example, proved particularly interesting. Also the re-entry into the business with game computers caused for ringing coffers.
However, HP does not want to participate in the market for mobile phones for end users.
However, HP sees opportunities in the area of virtual reality. In June, the Omen X VR backpack will come into the market.
This year, HP is also launching mixed-reality glasses for Windows on the market.

Q1 2017: iPhone 7 sells barely better than iPhone 6S

The new iPhone 7 sells in red and a larger version of the iPhone SE have hardly affected the sales figures.
The key point on Apple’s balance sheet is the iPhone and here the market researchers of IDC have rather bad figures.
Apple was it despite the improved iPhone SE and the red iPhone 7 (plus), both debuted in the March quarter, failed to significantly increase.

What are iPhone 7 sells in Q1 2017

The sales figures only show a slight increase over the previous year, instead of 51.2 million Apple had now 51.6 million devices sold.
Q1 2017: iPhone 7 sells barely better than iPhone 6S
The reasons for this are on the one hand the strong Christmas business with a new all-time high and the increasingly concrete prospects for spectacular innovations in the next iPhone generation.
In the first quarter of 2017, Huawei, in particular, posted a strong increase in sales of 34.2 million smartphones, 21.7 percent more than a year ago.
The manufacturer from China is thus ranked third with a market share of 9.8 percent and can rely above all on good business in the domestic market, while those in the USA are still expandable.

A vermouth drop for the one or the other interested should be that the Smartwatch does not run with Google’s Android Wear 2.0, but with an unspecified, Acer itself adapted OS.
This implies, among other things, that the so-called Liquid Life app is needed to connect the clock with an iPhone (from iOS 8) or an Android smartphone (from Android 5.0 Lollipop).
Within the app, users can, for example, define training targets or make certain settings for the Smartwatch.

Price and Release date: Acer Leapware

Acer plans to launch the Acer Leapware in North America from July 2017 at the recommended retail price of 149 US dollars.
In Europe, the start of sales is planned later somewhere later in the second half year at the price of 139 euros.
