Google has released the dates for how long the current Nexus and Pixel devices are supplied with security updates.
When does the support work?
As the owner of a Nexus or Pixel device, you are usually the first to get the latest updates. Now Google has released new figures on how long users can expect software updates for their current Nexus and Pixel phones. According to this, users of Nexus and Pixel smartphones can expect Android updates at least for two years after sales start of the device. Google even guarantees security updates for three years. After the expiration of the deadline, there is no guaranteed support. However, it may be that Google will also distribute some separate updates.
Updates Pixel phones
Both for the Google Pixel as well as for the Pixel XL, which are published in autumn 2016, Google guarantees Android updates until October 2018. Security updates will continue for both smartphones longer – until October 2019.
Updates for Nexus devices
